Woohooo!!!! Green Day fucking rocks man!!! Hell Yeahhh!!!! <--my entire vocabulary last night.
If you haven't guessed, I went and say the greatest band in the history of the world last night, the one, the only, Pet Shop Boys. No really, I went to the Green Day (okay, Pop Disaster tour, but Blink sucks and Jimmy Eat World was only on for like 35 minutes) concert in Tacoma. It was awesome, to use the word in it's original sense, which that it inspired awe. I was in a state of euphoria throughout the entire Green Day set. I don't believe I stopped moving or singing at any point during it. Billy Joe is an insanely good rabble rouser. He had 30,000 people (or whatever the capacity of the Tacoma dome is) shouting "Hey, hey, hey" and "AAAAAAA OOOOOOO" all night long. They really involved the crowd in the concert. In fact they invited 3 random guys in the crowd to come up and play their instruments. Can you imagine it: Green Day, invites you on stage, to play their instruments, with them, in front of 30,000 people. Absolutely insane. They ended there set with a guitar burning, drum set mauling finale, followed with Billy Joe playing an electic version of "Good Riddance" for a finale. Absolutely the best concert I've been to, ever.
Highlights:
The booing after billy joe told the crowd they weren't going to play "Basketcase" (and the cheering after he told them he was "such a fucking liar")
The dancing mexican brass section
The dancing chicken and bumble bee brass section
The 3 kids pulled out of the audience playing with Green Day
Green Day playing lynard skynard and the temptations, (the temptations "Shout" was the one of the best songs in the set, second only to:)
When I come around. Best song in the world. What more do I have to say about it.
Blink concert was also pretty cool with some fun pyrotechnics and special effects. The only thing that really sticks out in my mind though is travis playing a drum solo on a plat form flying through the air spinning upside down. That was pretty cool (although no where near Green Days unfathomable awesomeness)
Oh, Dan and Emma, thanks for the company. I can't think of a better two people I could have gone to the concert with. Later all
