Emily, since you didn't give me the chance to reply: I was not referring to the war (although most actually do seem to support it. I'm undecided still) I was referring to the US population's view on the government as a whole. Many, if not most, people in the US think too much of there role in the government. You know me, I'm an 19th century throwback. Representatives should be allowed to govern, and govern for what is best for the country. Of course neither the people nor the governing seem to like this view very much... (poorly constructed but I'm on the run.)

Anyways- The US is definatly a Republic, not a democracy. Perhaps a democratic republic at worst. Hence the founding father's talk of republician virtue, etc... You comparision to the PRC was cheap and uncalled for. They might have the structure of a republic, but they fall short in the suffarge area. PS- Iraq is a supposedaly a democratic republic too...
