Flogging Molly Concert tonight: It was AWESOME. I've never been to a concert where the ENTIRE venue was dancing, and at least half of it was a mosh pit. The lineup was as follows: The Brigs, the Street Dogs, and Flogging Molly.
The Brigs sucked, there's not much good I can say about them. Their bass was turned up to high in comparision with the rest of their instruments, they had minimal stage prescence and they just in general were bad. I think they sounded like a bad garage band.
The Street Dogs more than made up for it. Boys from Boston, they were obviously distracted in the beggining by the huge screen on the wall displaying the Red Soxs Vs Yankees game. They had us chanting "Yankees Suck" for a while :) When the Yankees lost (yah) they really started to shine. They had every one swaying and such, and just played an awesome punk set. I don't think I'll ever forget their lead singer climbing up into the rafters during the last set. Awesome band you should check out if they are ever in your town.
Flogging Molly was just fantastic, there is really nothing bad I can say about them. Their stage show didn't consist of a whole lot, but the fans more than made up for it. Almost the entire nightclub was moshing at the beginning. They played all their big hits and some stuff off the new album. I don't know what to say. I even started minor amounts of headbanging, which is crazy for me, the most sedate punk rock concert fan ever.
Only a few complaints: the "punk voter" video. If I wanted politics, I'd of gone to the Micheal Moore thing. The video itself was OK, but it was pretty long and really made a conservative in the audience feel, um, threatened...
The other complaint was the amount of people taking advantage of the all ages venue... Here is me scanning the crowd for girls "Not legal, not legal, not legal, legal and legal but making out with each other, not legal, not legal, legal but man is she ugly, not legal, not hot, not legal, legal and with a gorillia" and so on and so forth. Made me feel old.
BTW- Thanks for going with me Carly! It made it so much better, I didn't actually, you know, have to meet people.
And I'm going to bed now, just praying I'll have my hearing back within the week.
